| How often are dinosaurs and pterosaurs depicted as ancient creatures that became extinct millions of years ago! It was not from "modern science" that we got the doctrine of universal ancient extinctions of dinosaurs and pterosaurs. Fossils discovered before the nineteenth century (long before any carbon-dating or any other dating method), were unknown to those who dug them up. Since they were not similar to any living creatures known to those persons, they were assumed to be extinct. By the time Darwin's ideas were becoming popular, the fossils were used as evidence for ancient extinctions. But eyewitnesses from the early twentieth century to the present have seen living dinosaurs and living pterosaurs. This site examines eyewitness testimonies of apparent live pterosaurs. Brian Hennessy, originally from Australia, reported observing a "prehistoric" flying creature that had not a feather in sight. On Bougainville Island (now part of Papua New Guinea), in 1971, Hennessy saw that the creature had both a long tail trailing straight behind it and a horn-like structure coming out the back of the head. For those who would suggest that the man is crazy, please consider this: Mr. Hennessy is a professional psychologist, employed at a medical university in China. Reports of living pterosaurs are hardly confined to tropical islands of Papua New Guinea. According to the non-fiction cryptozoology book Live Pterosaurs in America, many eyewitnesses have seen apparent living pterosaurs in the United States, for many years. Many descriptions suggest some relationship to the creature seen by Hennessy in 1971, especially the long tail. From "Pterosaurs Alive," is part of an account of a sighting near the Maryland-Virginia border: "I suddenly saw, parallel with the water, quite a distance away, a flying object that was strange. Why? Because we knew it was quite far away, but it was as big as a regular bird would appear up close. . . . I know what it was. It wasn't a heron; it wasn't a vulture; it wasn't an albatross." The creature had both a head crest and a long tail with a "diamond tip." (eyewitness anonymous) Susan Wooten was driving from Greenville, South Carolina, to Florence (about 1989) when a giant creature glided over the highway in front of her car. “It looked as big as any car, and had NO feathers, not like a huge crane or egret.” She noted that the tail was very long and the wingspan she estimated at twelve to twenty feet. She was positive that it had no feathers. This is not a proclamation that all fossils of pterosaurs are represented by living creatures. But from many years of cryptozoological research, we who have interviewed many eyewitnesses present this case: At least a few species of pterosaur live in various parts of the world. | |
